Tell me about your current role at Yale University?

After completing my Master in Public Health from the Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) ’16 I began a consultancy and began working with a research intervention at the Yale School of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine in the Emergency Medical Services section.

Would you share some of your military experience and transition to the private sector?

This Veteran's Life: Brand New Babysitter

My son came from Geneva to visit with me a couple of weeks ago which prompted me into thinking of traditions and legacies concerning military service in my family.  My father enlisted in the Navy during WWII but never deployed overseas.  His orders were to report to San Francisco to await transport to the Pacific where he would ultimately command LST’s landing Marines on beachheads.  While he lay in his bunk two men in civilian suits came in and asked him if he was Chad Raseman.

Liaison's Ledger: The Role of the Vet

He was extremely interested in issues related to military veter-ans at Yale and asked for my thoughts on the matter. I told him that, for the vast majority of my time at Yale, very few people knew that I had served in the United States Air Force and even fewer knew about my year of service in Vietnam.

Liaison's Ledger: Why Veterans Count

In the Fall of 2016 we began an initiative we called, “Veterans Count at Yale.” There were two main reasons for the initiative; first and foremost, Yale leaders wanted to clearly communicate their regard for those who have served in the military and who now work or study at Yale and second, to attempt to obtain an accurate and complete count of the number of veterans at Yale.

Volunteers Wanted: NH Multicultural Block Party, 17-SEP

We are currently in need of YVN volunteers to host an information table at the upcoming Multicultural New Haven Block Party that will take place on Sunday, 17-SEP, 1200 - 1600, Divinity School Courtyard, 409 Prospect Street. This is a family- and pet-friendly event; we expect 500 attendees. This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with the Yale and New Haven community, families, merchants, vendors, organizations, and employees.
