Tell us about your current role at Yale University?

I provide security, public safety, and concierge services at 300 George St. in the School of Medicine section of Yale.

Would you share some of your military experience and transition to the private sector?

I served in the Marines as an Infantryman from 1993 to 1997. Working in the security and public safety field was a natural fit upon entering the private sector as a result of my specialty and training while enlisted.

How does your military experience impact your position at Yale?

My military experience brought me to many places around the world and have experienced time with many cultures. With that, I recognize and understand the diversity of people I work with and assist on a daily basis.

Could you discuss some of the intangible skills that veterans like yourself bring to an organization?

Some intangible skills military service and training brought to an organization include the knowing of the importance of good teamwork and understanding it’s true effectiveness. Another is the striving to become more proficient in one’s field to make oneself a more efficient and productive employee.  Also, professionalism is greatly taught in the military which is a necessity to maintain a good workplace environment.

What do you think about the Yale Veterans Network?

The Yale Veterans Network is a great portal and resource for veterans.
