An annual tradition that was paused to limit the possibility of spreading COVID in the days before vaccination, the Yale Veterans BBQ is an opportunity for veteran students, staff, faculty, ROTC, alumni, active duty, and allies to gather, enjoy free food and drink, and make connections across schools, classes, and job specialties. This year, catered by Sanctuary Kitchen, and Ricky D’s Rib Shack.

The President’s Review recognizes the members of our institutions’ shared ROTC community for their academic achievements, military aptitude, community service, and physical fitness; it is also an opportunity to celebrate the dedicated faculty who contribute to these students’ success. Crash Course: Veteran Reflects on Training Ukrainian Volunteers for Battle

On April 5, International Security Studies will host a conversation with Adrian Bonenberger ’02, president of the Yale Veterans Association, and his wife, Iryna Solomko.
The pair will reflect on Bonenberger’s recent trip to Ukraine, where he was among a group of American combat veterans who gave a two-week crash course to volunteers of Ukraine’s Territorial Defense Forces. The American veterans—who organized and paid for the trip themselves—trained the volunteer fighters in small unit tactics and leadership.
