Employee Spotlight - Lynn Sullivan
What is your current role at Yale University?
I am the Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging at the Divinity School.
What’s your military affiliation?
My husband was a paratrooper in Panama and my father served on what is known as “The Fighting 69th”.
How does your husband’s military experience impact your position at Yale?
I have greater insights from my husband’s worldview that supports the way in which I process problem-solving strategies and understand diverse perspectives.
Could you discuss some of the intangible skills that veterans bring to an organization?
Time management, attuned listening habits, strategic thinking, loyalty, and integrity.
What do you think about the Yale Veterans Network?
Its composition represents diversity on identities and unique perspectives. I think YVN cares deeply about positively contributing to the overall culture at Yale and to ensure that the group experiences a sustained sense of belonging at the institution. The group is working hard to operationalize its name and purpose to network within Yale and the Greater New Haven community.
Is there anything else that you’d like to add?
I am new to YVN but it’s current leadership under Von Narcisse whom I know through the Emerge at Yale program, is a leadership exemplar. I have full confidence that he will make participation in YVN something to be proud of.
