What is your current role at Yale University? Senior Associate Director of Major Gifts
Would you share some of your military experience and transition to the private sector?
I proudly served in the US Army in Military Intelligence.
How does your military experience impact your position at Yale (if applicable)?
My military service reinforced the importance of working collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals with different perspectives. It taught me to never lose sight on the mission. Yale University’s mission focuses on improving the world through education, research, preservation and practice, all of which I am proud to place a small role in advancing.
Could you discuss some of the intangible skills that veterans bring to an organization?
Veterans bring a variety of intangible skills to organizations that can greatly enhance workplace dynamics and performance. Personally, I think these key skills are important: leadership, teamwork, discipline, problem-solving, adaptability and resilience.
What do you think about the Yale Veterans Network?
The Yale Veterans Network provides members of the Yale community with an opportunity to celebrate the services of their colleagues who may be veterans or family members of those who have served in the military. This network has personally been a very important considerations when I was exploring career opportunities in advancement because its mission aligned with my values of service to God and country.
Is there anything else that you’d like to add?
I would be remiss to not reinforce the message that everyone is welcome to join YVN. Most individuals have some connection to YVN, either as a neighbor of a service member, family member or a veteran who has served this nation. All are welcome to join YVN.
